Dr Pepper has always marketed itself as 'One of a Kind', and throughout the years has adapted its advertisements and marketing strategies to fit its demographic. From their 1970's I'm A Pepper Campaign toLil' Sweet commercials today, Dr Pepper has demonstrated exceptional strategies to reach their demographic.
Before diving into the strategies of Dr Pepper, it is important to understand who buys the product. While I would love to talk about myself and the excessive amount of Dr Pepper I purchase, as a Texan I know I am not alone in my addiction. According to Statista (2018), the largest age demographic of Dr Pepper drinkers in America was the age range from 18-24.
Another major part of Dr Pepper's demographic depends on geographic location as well as age. Dr Pepper originated in Central Texas, and since then has been a major staple in Texan culture. Dr Pepper makes Texas and Southern culture a major part of their demographic appeal, applied to their marketing strategies.
Determining the age and geographic location of the targeted demographic is an important factor throughout my analysis, which will help me understand Dr Pepper's strategic business and marketing strategies.
